2011 Programme

 

  • Sat 12 Feb 3.0PM : Members’ recital on the Hill/Browne organ at St Peter’s & St Paul’s, Godalming which has 49 speaking stops and is probably the largest organ in Diocese
  • Tues 1 Mar 1.0PM : Visit to i) St Paul’s Knightsbridge (beautiful Victorian Church, 4 manual R & D, host Stephen Farr). ii) 3.0PM London Oratory (Ralph Downes’s design and one of London’s finest post-War organs) iii 4.0PM Little Oratory to see Flentrop
  • Tues 19 April : Visit to 3 Wren Churches all within 300 yards of London Bridge i)12.30 St Mary Abchurch 2 m/p Mander but oak case dates from 1717. Least altered of all Wren’s Churches ii) 2.0PM St Clement Eastcheap, Renatus Harris 3m/p but with numerous re-builds iii) 3.0PM St Magnus the Martyr, Lower Thames Street. Jordan 3 m/p. 40 Stops.
  • Sat 7 May : Joint visit with East Surrey O A to Arundel. i) 11.30 St Nicholas Parish Church, 3 manual JWW ii) 14.30 Cathedral (recently restored, superb Hill) 15.30 chance to view collection of early instruments at 47 Maltravers
  • Mon 13 June 7.0PM : Presentation by local organ builder Matthew Copley including ‘voicing’ at All Saints, Kingston Parish Church 
  • Sat July 16 : 1.15 Visit to St Mary’s Slough (splendid English romantic N & B organ in impressively large Church). NB Guitar recital/ refreshments at 12.00 to which we are welcome 3.15 St Mary’s Langley - beautiful church, fine 2 manual Percy Daniel organ and access to famous Kedderminster Library. 
  • Sat Sept 3: 11.00 All Saints Marlow (3 manual Father Willis. Possibly best organ in Bucks) 2.0PM St John  Baptist Cookham Dean (Percy Daniel 2m/p rebuilt 1996) 4.0PM Holy Trinity Cookham (3 m/p JWW rebuild 2001)
  • Tues 18 Oct 7.0 for 7.30  Annual dinner. Venue is the hall adjacent to All Saints Church, Woodham, Woking.
  • Sat 5 Nov 4.0PM. Our annual service will take the shape of evensong at Southwark Cathedral. This will be followed by i) a demonstration of the Cathdral organ by Jonathan Hope ii) a 2 hour playing opportunity for members and guests
