This is a community service for churches and organists across Surrey provided by the Surrey Organists Association.
Whether you need an organist for a service, or a full-time director of music, Surrey Organists Online is a place where churches can advertise their request/vacancy using a simple ONLINE REQUEST FORM free of charge.
Organists who are looking for work can also view the listing free of charge. Alternatively, for a small annual fee of £13 organists can receive priority notifications of requests/vacancies, a personal 'CV' page on this website, and membership of the Surrey Organists Association.
If you would like to be considered for one of the following appointments, please get in touch with the relevent contact.

Unfortunately our organist has had to take some time out for personal reasons, but hopes to be back with us after Easter 2018.
So we are looking for someone - or a rota of people - who could stand in for him while he is away.
Our regular Sunday service is at 10 am, with choir practice immediately before that, from 9 am. We have a communion service every week apart from the first Sunday, which is a Family non-communion service. We usually sing an anthem at services. Additionally, the organist would be asked to play at services at Westhumble Chapel held at 11:30 once a month.
We have a robed choir (of which I am the tenor section!), totalling 10- 12 regulars, with supplements for weddings and funerals.
The fee payable for Sunday services (inclusive of choir practice) is £50, or £60 when there is a service at the Chapel. Fees are of course also payable for weddings and funerals, or other additional services.
In addition to the usual Christmas services, we have a 9 Lessons and Carols service scheduled for 17 December. The Director of the local Choral Society has agreed to take Sunday afternoon rehearsals for that service for the preceding 4 weeks.
If you are able to help please contact Richard Siberry, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
We are seeking a capable organist who can play at our 9am Sunday services at least twice a month and rehearse our small but enthusiastic choir during the week. There will be potential for this role to grow in due course as well as including funerals and occasional extra services. The ideal person will also be comfortable playing keyboards at our more informal 10.45am service, but this is not essential. We are a friendly and flexible church and fees are negotiable for the right person. Please contact the Vicar Rev Mark Wallace for an informal conversation. Fee: TBC

A 13th century Parish Church with a regular congregation of 25 to 40. We are looking for an organist to help build up a choir and play a Copeman Hart electronic organ built in 2005. The organ is serviced annually.
All services requiring an organ are at 10:00 am although occasionally at a different time such as Midnight communion on 24th December.

All Saints Church would like to employ an organist/choir leader for 3 Sunday Services a month, and 3 Thursday evening rehearsals a month. In addition the organist/choir leader would need to be available for major Christian festivals, and some special services. We have a choir of 12-15 members; and there is also the opportunity to develop a children's choir. Fee to be negotiated.
For further details please contact: email@example.com or telephone 07547 416721.
Organist needed for a weekly Sung Mass and other services throughout the liturgical year. A good two manual pipe instrument is in place, resonant acoustics, church available for practice/teaching throughout the week, rehearsal space also negotiable, and a new Priest-in-Charge (himself a music graduate and singer) very keen to develop a musical tradition. Potential for future initiatives with parish school. Rates negotiable. Sympathy with and/or knowledge of the liturgical tradition is preferred, as is willingness to work with the priest.
Contact for immediate temporary or regular work: Fr James Bradley (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We require a keyboard player on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month to play a range of modern hymns, usually taken from Songs of Fellowship. The position is paid £35 per service. Rehearsals start at 9am, service is at 10.30-11.30am.
If you would like further details please contact Liz Coleman or telephone 01306 712594.
We have a two-manual, 21-stop pipe organ which is regularly maintained (entry in National Pipe Organ Register at http://www.npor.org.uk/NPORView.html?RI=N13720), and an enthusiastic robed choir with 6-12 members. The choir is relaxed and friendly, and currently sings SATB settings. I believe that there is the potential to help the choir grow with the right leadership. The choir rehearsal is on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm.
We sing a mix of old and new hymns, and there are assistant organists available to cover one Sunday a month and/or holidays. Our regular sung Eucharist is at 10.30am, and uses Common Worship liturgy. We currently use a Patrick Appleford setting, but we are looking to introduce a new setting in 2017.
We are looking for an organist who can sustain our current services, but who can support the introduction of other instruments within our worship. We have, in the past, been able to put choristers through the RSCM exams, and would like to be able to reintroduce this in the future. Payment would be based on RSCM rates.
There is the option of playing at the weddings and funerals, but we can rely on other organists if this was a problem.
Following the relocation of our organist Barry Jackson to the deep Midlands of Rutland, we are looking to appoint a new organist and choir leader who can further develop and refresh the musical possibilities of our parish worship. The present core commitment would be to the weekly 10.30am Sunday service, usually Holy Communion (Common Worship) and a weekly choir practice for S/A/Men. The modern Wyvern 2-manual electronic organ complements the 13th century parish church with various loudspeaker configurations possible in the nave and chancel. The robed choir sings regular anthems, with major choral contributions at Festivals, notably Christmas and Easter. Occasional services are transferred to the Church Hall, where a piano is used. Fees by arrangement, plus weddings and funerals. A musician with their own transport will easily reach the somewhat remote riverside church. The appointment is subject to a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure. For further information and an informal discussion contact the Revd Tony Shutt, Priest-in-charge, on 01483 222193 (not Tuesdays) or email email@example.com.
Warnham offers you an active, friendly village parish which values a broad range of musical activities, and supports the choir enthusiastically. We require an organist who will work alongside our Director of Music and Priest to assist in enriching the musical and liturgical life and aspiration of the church.
The instrument is a comprehensive and flexible 3-manual Wyvern organ, recently upgraded and rebalanced. Robed choir with boys and girls and adults, RSCM-affiliated, following Voice For Life.
Your commitment would be to play for our choir-led services – 2 morning Eucharists and 2 choral Evensongs (spread over the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday each month) plus feast days and occasional offices where possible, and choir practice each Friday evening. Stipend: £3,200 p.a.

Located between Dorking and Reigate. We are seeking a friendly Organist and Choir Director. Our friendly Church provides worship services which are choral and traditional in style as well as services which are contemporary and modern. We have a loyal RSCM-affiliated choir of adults and children. There is a three manual pipe organ which is a pleasure to play. Morning services are at 10.45; Family Service 1st Sunday, 2nd Sunday Common Worship, 3rd Sunday BCP Matins, 4th Sunday Parish Communion. Evening service BCP 1st Sunday 6.30pm. Choir practice is traditionally on Friday evenings. Our Church has a reputation for being a very friendly church with a strong traditional approach to the teaching of the Bible. It would be lovely to have an organist/choir director who appreciated this ethos and who would be willing to be a genuine “team player” in our Church Family. For further details please contact Vicar Jonathan; 01306 611224.
Our small but enthusiastic congregation of about 20 worshippers are keen to hear from anybody who would be able to play the organ for their 9.00am service on Sundays (finishes before 10.00am). They have not had a full time organist since the last Vicar retired (his wife used to play). They would be happy to have someone to play on high church days only, if that was practical (so perhaps a dozen days a year) and do have a budget to pay an organist either every week or just on the occasional Sunday. The service and hymns are traditional. If you are able to help please contact Hugh Holland; 01276 856080 or email email@example.com.
